Michael Gebben

Michael Gebben is a powerhouse. He’s a videographer, motivational speaker, and business coach. He started his first business while in high school, as a videographer filming weddings and funerals. Now he’s a motivational speaker, coach, and videographer. He’s worked with some of the biggest names in the business including Lewis Howes, Tim Ferris, and Tony Robbins. Here Michael shares about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, the truth about money and business (and his own story of near bankruptcy) and how to do what you love even when what you love isn’t what you’ve been taught to do.

What I found was selfish is doing whatever the client wanted just because you could. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. When I did it my way I served them at the best level I could because I poured my heart and soul into every single thing I did. I only did what lit me up. Coincidentally that’s what lit other people up too. They felt it. They saw it. They experienced it.

Some things we talk about…

  • How to know what’s good advice, what isn’t, and the exact questions to ask to figure out the difference
  • What to do if you’re doing what you love but still not making money
  • The exact steps Michael used to pull himself out of near bankruptcy
  • The two ways to sell and
  • How to figure out the “right” path to pursue (and when to quit the “wrong” one)

“If we’re not aware we get sent off way in the wrong direction. A lot of people are saying hustle hard, work harder, more hours. If I’m running in the wrong direction it doesn’t matter how hard and far I run I won’t make it where I need to go.”

I found that I can get to the making money part if I’m consistently doing the thing that I enjoy. The things that you do effortlessly, that you enjoy, that you have fun, those are the things that bring the most value.
